On the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, 3rd of December 2023, we stand with the international disability community and call for the establishment of human rights-based support and care systems.

Discussions around care and support economy often leave persons with disabilities behind.

We call on governments to place the human rights of persons with disabilities, as well as the principles and obligations of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, at the center of all decision-making processes when establishing or transforming care and support systems.

We call on governments to meaningfully include organisations of persons with disabilities at all stages.

We call for a move away from disability stereotypes to ensure that persons with disabilities are seen as rights holders, whether giving or receiving care and support.
