Criteria for representative membership of DSi

  • The vision, mission, values and activities of the organisation are based on the principles of promotion of fundamental human rights and full inclusion of people Down syndrome in society on an equal basis with others;
  • The overall approach of the organisation must be holistic in respect of the lives of people with Down syndrome, i.e. not limited to specific issues, notwithstanding that your current activities may be focused on specific issues;
  • The organisation must be undertaking activities which lead to the empowerment of people with Down syndrome and/or family members;
  • The majority of the governance and membership is composed of people with Down syndrome and/or family members;
  • The organisation will be actively engaged in the work and activities of DSi;
  • Account will be taken of DSi’s existing representative members in a country when assessing new applications, with preference given to recognised national networks and coalitions, notwithstanding that having national coverage is not in itself a requirement for membership. 

Criteria for affiliate membership of DSi

  • The vision, mission, values and activities of the organisation improve quality of life for people with Down syndrome;
  • The organisation is actively engaged in the work and activities of DSi.
