Zero Project Conference 2023

Hello!

My Name is Bethan, and I have Down syndrome. I live in England, in South West London.

I am representing Down Syndrome International.

I take part in Our Voice, which is a group run by the Down’s Syndrome Association UK. We help the DSA with their work and their resources. It helps me to be more confident about speaking up.

I also belong to Corali, a dance company for people with learning disabilities. I do different things like performances and leading workshops, and also go to the board meetings. In November I went to a festival in Stockholm, Sweden.

I also like to go to youth club and the cinema with my friends.

Zero Project Conference 2023

On 23 February, Bethan will be speaking at Zero Project Conference 2023 about easy-to-understand communication.

Easy and simple language is important for an inclusive society.

The Zero Project Conference is an annual disability inclusion gathering at the United Nations Office at Vienna.

The conference brings together innovators and key decision makers from all sectors to foster partnerships, share new proven solutions, and support the international scaling of these solutions, all towards the mission for a world with zero barriers.

World Down Syndrome Day 2024

On World Down Syndrome Day (21 March), people with Down syndrome and those who live and work with them throughout the world organise and participate in activities and events to raise awareness. Together we create a single global voice advocating for the rights, inclusion, and well-being of people with Down syndrome.
