Greetings from New York City.

The Permanent Mission of Mexico to the United Nations is proud to co-sponsor World Down Syndrome Day@ United Nations 2020 Virtual Event, together with Down Syndrome International (DSi) and the Permanent Missions of Australia, Brazil, Japan, Republic of Korea, Poland, United Kingdom and UNICEF.

Today’s virtual event is an opportunity to stay connected through technology and celebrate the World Down Syndrome Day.

It is an opportunity to scale up our awareness and share insights and experiences on how best to ensure the full and effective participation of persons with Down syndrome in society on an equal basis with others.

All people with Down syndrome should have full participation in decision making about matters relating to or affecting their lives.

Our societies are stronger and more inclusive when every person fully enjoys her or his human rights, and has the opportunity to meaningful participation.
