On 21 March 2011, DSi presented the Global Video Event "Let Us In!". This consisted of a series of video clips based on a theme highlighting the need for inclusion in society, featuring actors with Down syndrome. The video clips were sent to us by groups and organisations from 45 countries around the world and we edited them together. The theme concept, some extract professional video footage and original music created by 5Dedos Producciones were used with their kind permission.
Following the success of "Let Us In!", DSi launched a new Global Video Event for 2012 called "Let Us In - I Want To Learn!", based on an education theme. Groups and organisations from 68 countries participated. Then in 2013, we presented "Let Us In - I Want To Work!", based on an employment theme, with the participation of groups and organisations from 62 countries and "Let Us In - I Want Access to Healthcare!" in 2014 with 50 countries.
For 2015, Down Syndrome International presented "My Opportunities, My Choices", interviews with people with Down syndrome from 39 countries looking at their enjoyment of full and equal rights and the role of their families.
The purpose of the WDSD Global Video Event is to create a single global voice for advocating for the rights, inclusion and well being of people with Down syndrome on 21 March.
