Dr. Dan Weeks

 

Dr. Weeks is currently the Chair of the Department of Psychology at Simon Fraser University. A member of the Psychonomic Society, he operates the PsychoMotor Behaviour Laboratory at SFU. He received a B.A. in psychology from the University of Windsor, an M.Sc. specializing in human biodynamics from McMaster and a Ph.D. in psychology specializing in cognition and motor performance from Auburn University. Following the doctorate Dr. Weeks completed postdoctoral work as a visiting Assistant Professor in the Human Factors Unit at Purdue University.

Jacob Burack

 

Jake Burack is a Professor of School Psychology/Human Development at McGill University. He is the founder and director of the McGill Youth Study Team, researcher at Hôpital Rivière-des-Prairies, and a co-investigator on three networks funded by the Canadian Institutes for Health Research – the Autism Research Training program, the National Network on Aboriginal Mental Health, and Roots of Resilience (co-funded by the Medical Research Council of New Zealand).

Passing of Josephine Mills, DSI Founder

It is with great sorrow that DSI reports the death of Josephine Mills. Jo died peacefully at her home in Vancouver, Canada on May 18th, 2008. Jo has had a long battle with cancer but soldiered on as President of DSI until March this year.

Ms. Dawn McKenna

 

Dawn is currently the Executive Director of the Down Syndrome Research Foundation and has been involved in the disability community for over ten years. She has a broad business background with experience and education in finance, human resources and management. In 1999, looking for new challenges and the opportunity to help make a difference, Dawn left the corporate world and joined the Down Syndrome Research Foundation.

Roy Brown

 

Roy Brown has experience in practicing and teaching as a Clinical and Educational Psychologist. He started the remedial education clinics in Bristol, UK, where he held the position of Research Fellow at the University. He was appointed to the Department of Educational Psychology, University of Calgary, Canada in 1968. During this time also served as the director of the Vocational and Rehabilitation Research Institute. Later he served as Department Head and Professor, and is now Professor Emeritus of Educational Psychology at the University of Calgary.
