10th World Down Syndrome Congress Welcome Message

As President of Down Syndrome International I wish to extend a warm welcome to you to attend the 10th World Down Syndrome Congress in Dublin, Ireland from August 19th to 22nd, 2009. We usually welcome over 1500 people from all over the world to our World Congresses and we anticipate that this Congress will be no exception.

Pat Clarke has been involved in disability issues for over 27 years since the birth of his son David.

In Ireland Pat Clarke was the leading influence by way of research and example which lead to a change in national legislation giving rights and resources to children with Down Syndrome in the area of mainstream education.

10th World Down Syndrome Congress

Down Syndrome International organises the World Congress on Down Syndrome every 3-4 years to bring together parents and professionals from around the world. Current research, education and advocacy programs are discussed by international experts.

Its aim is to take stock of the advances made since the last Congress. It is a point of meeting, reflection, exchange of knowledge and ideas for scientists, professionals, persons with Down syndrome, relatives and Associations.
