Membership Overview
Membership of Down Syndrome International is open to individuals with Down syndrome, parents, practitioners, researchers and organizations dedicated to the advancement of people with Down syndrome.
BENEFITS: the benefits of becoming a member of DSI are varied and include having a voice in the world community. The world is growing smaller with the use of internet and DSI is starting to be involved in significant areas of influence. As a full member you can participate in collaborations with like-minded organizations and individuals; have input on advocacy on major ethical and other issues; and a number of other areas.
People with Down sydnrome are still being marginalized and are regularly not provided the most basic human rights. It is up to us as part of that community to play a part in changing that world for them.
Full Membership in DSI gives a discount rate:
- at the Down Syndrome World Congress; and
- at Conferences of IASSID (International Association on Scientific Study of Intellectual Disabilities, which are held regionally in between their international event.
PUBLICATION: Down Syndrome Quarterly, a research and news journal with an international focus.

Affiliate Membership
This free membership is available to all groups or individuals representing others, who wish to participate. It enables DSI to speak jointly for the world population when represented at global meetings, such as World Health Organization meetings. THis does not include a vote or allow other privileges of full membership. All it requires is that you send your name and address to either Paul Zanon at the email above or to the webmaster at target@uniserve.com
Supported Memership
Groups who wish to belong but do not have the funds can apply to join and will be asked to give some information about their group so can DSI can confirm they should be supported.
