Kristin Van Burm is a founding member and the Immediate Past Chairperson of Down Syndrome Association Singapore, and is currently still serving on its volunteer Management Board. Kristin has assisted with many initiatives and with the support of an excellent team of Board members, Down Syndrome Association Singapore has flourished and counted several achievements.
She is a member of the Down Syndrome Special Interest Research Group (SIRG) of the International Association for the Scientific Study of Intellectual Disabilities (IASSID) and an Executive Council Member of the Association for Persons with Special Needs (APSN) and the Singapore Disability Sports Council (SDSC).
Kristin was a member of the organising committees of several major conferences related to Down syndrome or the intellectually disabled, held in Singapore, and was the Editor of DSA Singapore’s 10th Anniversary Commemorative Book ‘’Just Like Me, Just Like You’’ (research by Clement Michael).
A dedicated mother of 2 teenage daughters, one of whom has Down syndrome, she was originally from Belgium but has lived in Singapore for 20 years. In her professional life she works as a Logistics Manager in a distribution centre for cosmetics and fragrances, serving the Duty Free market in the Asia Pacific region.
